This study uses the soil parameter reduction coefficients to model the seismic pile responses affected by liquefied soils. One dimensional wave equation analyses were conducted for the solutions. Based on the bore-hole data and nearby seismic record, the soil parameter reduction coefficients of liquefied layers can be obtained through a pre-analysis for liquefaction potential of the site. The reduction coefficients were used to reduce the soil modulus for liquefied soils, and the lumped mass analysis is performed to obtain the free-field response of the site. The ground deformations are superimposed onto the pile elements for discrete wave equation analysis, and the non-linear pile responses can be simulated through the modified Bouc-Wen model. Thus the deformations and failure mechanism of the pile are able to investigate.

By decomposing the problem system into an extended saturated soil system and a virtual pile system, through the strain compatibility condition between the extended saturated soil system and the virtual system at an arbitrary depth z along the pile, and combined the Laplace transform and its convolution, a Fredholm intergral equation of the second kind of the single pile in saturated layered transversely isotropic soils is established. The axial force and diaplacement of the pile are obtained by solving the Fredholm intergral equation.

Vesic's solutions to cavity expansion that include cylindrical cavity expansion and spherical cavity expansion are introduced. Then cylindrical cavity expansion theory is applied to study compaction effect of pile driving in saturated soil. Based on the results of conventional triaxial tests, a trilinear curve model is used to simulate stress-strain curve of strain-softening materials. Meanwhile, trilinear curves are also used to simulate curves of volumetric strain, minor principal strain and major principal strain. By using elasto-plastic theory, analytical solutions to cylindrical cavity expansion in strain-softening soil are presented. According to the mechanism of statically pressed pile driving, compaction effect of pile tip can be viewed as hemispheric cavity expansion. Therefore spherical cavity expansion theory is applied to obtain the solutions to stress, strain, displacement fields and final pressure. Resistance force of pile tip is calculated to estimate static pressure.
