The formation of secondary phase in the non-equilibrium peritectic reaction was observed by precise transmission electron microscopy analysis. The microstructural evolution and phase selection regularities under different solidification velocities were constructed from the laser resolidification experiments. A new phenomenon involving two-phase coupled growth was firstly detected in the rapidly solidified Ti-Al peritectic alloy.
