On her first voyage as Sirius she dropped anchor in Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788. Nine months later, the colony being already starving, the Sirius fitted off before the westerlies for Cape Horn and Capetown, where she loaded stored for afflicted settlers of Sydney. She was therefore the first vessel to sail from Sydney and 'run her easting down'.
