This paper summarizes some molecular ecological techniques used in the studies on microbial community structure of oil reservoirs in China, including 16S rRNA gene sequence in the Daqing Oilfield and the northwestward oilfields, 16S rDNA of T-RFLP in the Shengli Oilfield and DNA gene track examination technology in Jilin oilfields, and points out some questions and suggestions for future studies.
