In order to establish scientific evidence-based active infectious disease surveillance system, we initiated a hospital emergency department-based timely and automatic syndromic surveillance system in Taiwan for the basis of further epidemiological investigation.

Therefore, this study focuses on:(1) the establishment of an integrated syndromic surveillance system that can automatically collect data from hospital emergency departments in Taipei City in a timely and flexible fashion,(2) development of effective algorithms for early detection of disease outbreaks using data of routinely collected chief complaints or ICD-9 CM codes, and (3) provision of friendly interfaces for the presentation of surveillance data to provide information for healthcare workers and decision-makers at different levels of position in hospitals in order to enhance the capability in the detection and prevention of disease outbreaks.

There was statistically significant difference between rate of SARS-CoV and time admission to the hospital.

结果 SARS临床确诊病例半年后的主要症状为气短、关节肌肉痛、心悸和烦躁；女性患者各种症状的发生率均高于男性；血清抗体与心悸、烦躁和肌肉关节痛的发生情况有统计学关联；血清抗体阳性率与入院时间有关联。
