In order to meet the demand of precise measurement and applications, the principle of phase retardation with oblique incident angle is expounded, based on the total-reflection phase transformation theory of the phase retardation. By means of Fresnel rhomb, the variation law of the phase retardation for rhomb-type retarder with the incident angle is analyzed. The result indicates that incident angle has obvious influence over the phase retardation.The phase retardation is sensitive to the incident angle, and also has close correlation to incident position of the incident ray, which is asymmetrical to the incident position of the incident ray.

The purposes of this study were (1) to compare the differences of the transverse craniofacial morphology between the adult high-angle and low-angle facial skeletal types, and (2) to correlate the width measurements with data obtained from PA roentgenogram. Thirty-seven adults, 18 to 22 years old, with varied vertical facial types were separated into two groups: seventeen high-angle, twenty low-angle facial skeletal types.

Result: All the patients were treated percutaneous reduction and obtained good resuld except one patient who needs another small incision to help reduction and bone graft. The preoperative X ray film showed that the B hler angle was 12.6°, Gissane angle was 75°. The postoperative X ray film demonstrated that B hler angle was 38.5°, Gissane angle was 114.5°.

结果： 14侧手术顺利，达到或接近解剖复位，1侧由于中间骨折块未能达到复位要求，辅助小切口复位骨折块。14侧B hler角由术前12.6°增加到38.5°，Gissane角由术前的75°增加到术后的114.5°，手术前、后差异有统计学意义（P.01）。

RESULTS:①There was higher tensile stress at the ingual side of symphysis, inside of molar and outside of condyle under the impact of chin.②There was higher tensile stress at the lingual side of symphysis, inside of contralateral molar, outside of contralateral angle, outside of homolateral angle and inside of homolateral body under the impact of body.③There was higher tensile stress at the inside of angle, inside of homolateral condyle, lingual side of symphysis, outside of contralateral condyle and inside of homolateral molar under the impact of angle.

结果：①撞击颏部，其舌侧区，磨牙后区内侧面、髁状突颈外表面以及下颌角外表面具有较高的张应力；②撞击下颌体部，颏部舌侧区，对侧磨牙后区内侧面、对侧下颌角外表面、撞击侧下颌角外侧面、撞击侧体部内侧面具有较高的张应力；③撞击下颌角，其内侧面、撞击侧髁状突颈内侧面、颏部舌侧面、对侧髁状突颈外表面以及撞击侧磨牙后区内侧面具有较高的张应力。

In the soft tissue measurements, the value of soft tissue facial angle and B'-Pos-FH in the first extraction group was less than those in the second extraction group significantly. After treatment all the patients had an increase in S-Ns-Pos angle, soft tissue facial angle, B'-Pos-FH and depth of mentolabial groove. At the same time, soft tissue convexity angle was diminished obviously. But the change was not significant between the two premolar extraction groups.
