N-substituded thioacridones with five different structures were synthesized via a route involving Ull-man reaction, cyclization, N-alkylation and sulfurization. The structures of each thioacridone were identified with IR and MS. The results from UV-spectrophotometry show that the five N-alkythioacridones all have stronger absorption in the visible light region.
