Taking the ring intersection at Bell Tower of Xi′an as an example,optimized signal timing scheme is proposed with the help of traffic simulation software VISSIM,and then the scheme is evaluated. The results of analysis indicate the scheme can reduce the vehicle delay and improve the traffic capacity of the ring intersection effectively,which validate that applying microcosmic simulation software VISSIM in signal timing of ring intersection is feasible.

Then, the potential applicability, advantages and characteristics of the two strategies were analyzed. With the surveyed data, a corresponding simulation model was built, and the effectiveness of these methods was simulated with the traffic signal control simulation software Synchro.
