By starting with the basic theory of metropolis ring spatial development and drawing the experience of domestic and foreign metropolis ring, the paper makes a discussion on efficiency of metropolis ring pattern, development phases and spatial structure. It points out the three main phases of metropolis ring development—rudiment, growth and autumn. From the spatial structure, the paper stresses that metropolis ring has the features of "ring and layer", the size of the "ring and layer" has the direct ratio with city size, convenient degree of external transportation and city radiant intensity. Besides, a new method of production management—— Theory of Constraints is introduced into the traditional MRP, and a method to integrate TOC with MRP is put forward. As a result, a system of production planning management for ceramics enterprise is developed. Then several problems of shop planning and control for ceramics enterprise including the modeling of production line, the optimized utilization of kiln, the complement and due-date of products are discussed. A mathematical programming model of equalization production for ceramics production line is set up. An optimized model is put forward, which uses genetic algorithm to solve the sequencing problem of ceramics before the kiln.

The commercial PLM software—SmarTeam is regarded asdevelopment platform, on basis of which, the design/manufacture informationmanagement system is built, and the multi-view mapping technique ofdesign/manufacture information model is studies.7. A computer-aided CAPP platform based on PDM/PLM is founded, and itsstructure, function, work flow is illustrated. Some example of the system areintroduced.
