Takayuki Tamura and his colleagues work at the Product Development Research Laboratory of Mercian Corporation in Kanagawa, Japan. They started their exploration of what was behind the strange aftertaste by asking seven experienced wine tasters to sample red wines and white wines while eating scallops. The panellists were instructed to rate the presence of any fishy aftertaste on a scale of zero to four, with zero indicating no such aftertaste and four indicating an extremely strong one. The pollen content of broad-leaved tree mainly consisting of Pterocarya is up to 60% in palaeosol 〓, while the content of Ephedra is more than 50% in 〓 loess layer, showing that the environment differed greatly when 〓 and 〓 were formed.

The temperature of water in the depositional environment calculated according to the oxygen isotope data averaged 30.5℃ and the minimum homogenization temperature of inclusions in primary glauberite crystals associated with mud-sized crystalline dolomite was 44℃. The two groups of temperature data are close, indicating that the temperature of the water in the paleolake environment during the deposition of mud-sized crystalline dolostone ranged from 30.5℃ to 44℃.
