Results Although overexpression of P53 protein was not detected in normal eyelid cutaneous epithelium, meibomian gland and mild epithelial dysplasia, the positive rate of P53 increased in degree in moderate and severe dysplasia, carcinoma in situ and invasive tumors, and PCNA labeling index progressively increased too. Overexpression of P53 protein was detected in 30/53 cases of basal cell carcinoma, 16/32 cases of squamous cell carcinoma, 10/17 cases of meibomian gland carcinoma, and the intensity of P53 protein immunostaining increased with the lowering in the degree of histological differentiation.

The following sections are included in the study.(1) The VCI and SVI based on time-series NDVI data are used to analyse regional drought and the following results were reached: As the vegetation growth status index, the response of VCI and SVI to precipitation was land cover type, temporal and site specified. So VCI and SVI have little information about drought when used to monitor regional drought especially in China that has a mountainous topographty.(2) Based on the interpretation of NDVI-Ts space, NDVI and land surface temperature was combined to construct NVDI-Ts space from which the TVDI (Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index) was obtained with line ratio method and normalized slopes method. When compared with the topsoil moisture measured in situ, TVDI are competent in regional drought monitoring. Illumed by the NDVI-Ts space, we combined the NDVI with day/night land surface temperature difference and apparent thermal inertia to construct NDVI-ΔT and NDVI-ATI spaces from which the DVDI and AVDI were estimated respectively with 8-day composite MODIS 〓 product and 16-day composite MODIS NDVI product.

In this project, the selection criteria of matrix and reinforcement for obtaining composites with high strength and toughness are determined. The as-cast and aged microstructures of composites reinforced with particles of different strength are observed, and their metallurgical conditions and stabilization mechanisms are analyzed. The aging precipitation behaviors and mechanisms are studied. Some characteristics of nano-materials (micro-distortion areas) are found in 150nm- Al2O3p/Al composites and their formation mechanisms are expatiated. The "flexible" restriction to the deformation of the matrix by low strength AlN particle is observed by in-situ TEM and SEM techniques, and the mechanisms of its resist on cracks propagation and its contribution to composite strength are revealed. The high temperature deformation behaviors of Al2O3p/Al composites are studied. A rare-earth coating is established on sub-micron Al2O3 particles, leading to an improvement in wettability between coated Al2O3 and liquid aluminum and a decrease in infiltration pressure. The strength and ductility of coated particles reinforced composite are also increased. The interfacial characteristics, bonding structures and their formation mechanisms are studied, and the crystal orientation relationships between reinforcement particles and aluminum matrix are investigated. Finally a lighter composite with better balance of strength and damping properties is reinforced with hollow ceramic microballoons of ultra-lower strength.

Diabetes mellitus is a kind of chronic and worldwide disease, and tight glycemic control is critical in manging DM and preventing complications such as nephropathy, neuropathy and retinopathy. In order to relieve DM patients pain and decrease the risk of crossinfection, noninvasive ways to monitor blood glucose concentrations are preferred, and one approach is to monitor glucose concentrations in tear fluid. This review covers recent understanding of features of tear fluid and relevant changes in DM, the influence of different collecting methods in tear glucose concentration, and attempts to monitor tear glucose concentration in situ by using contactlens based sensing devices.

Rresults from those studies can be summariazed as follow:(1) A preliminary study no correlationship between the UV-VIS reflection spectrum of tomato fruit surface and the lycopene amount of tomato fruit was undertaken. Based on observation from this study, a damage-free and in-situ detection technique of lycopene amount from tomato was developed with UV-VIS reflection spectroscopy;(2) The geometrical isomers of lycopene were separated successfully on C30-HPLC-PDA-ELSD. The absorption coefficients of Z-isomers were consequently dedermined. The geometrical isomer composition of lycopene could therefore be assessed. Those efforts formed a solid base to identify the natural product from synthetic compound of lycopene;(3) Lycopene resource from the fruit of Autumn oliver was proved to be available for industrial application. An extraction methos of lycopene from the fruit of Autumn oliver by supercritical carbon dioxide was developed at laboratory scale;(4) A method to extract lycopene by supercritical liquid with improved efficiency was developed; Data from this investigation suggested that a proper raw material pre-extraction process was important for a better extraction efficiency;(5) Variation in the geometrical isomer composition of lycopene during its metabolish in rat was assessed. A large amount of Z-isomers were observed. This variation took place in serum;(6) The absorption rate and accumulation in serum of natural lycopene in rat were assessed;(7) Ability to quench singlet oxygen by different geometrical isomers of lycopene was compared;(8) It was detected that whether natural lycopene had functions to regule blood-lipids and LDL antioxidation;(9) A C31 degradation piece of lycopene was found in the prostate gland of rat.
