Supervised and unsupervised image classification were applied to the study area TM image and t o the paddy field TM image. And the early rice areas were calculated by each met hod. Using the proposed methodology improved the quantitative accuracy of ear ly rice area estimated up to 93.98%, whereas it was 82.83%when image classific ation was used only. In the Sixth Chapter, the Wavelet analysis method is introduced in discussing some acoustic imaging problems related to the physical background of the ultrasonic detection. Corresponding map was digitized and (Landsat 5 TM) the image was corrected according to the digital map. The image where water and land shifted during floody and dry seasons was extracted and classified by unsupervised method. The image in dry seasons was calculated by both Normalized Difference Vegetation Index and Tasseled Cap model. Traditional snail survey was done at the same areas and recorded the geographic position by Geographic Position System.
