Summary Ssu-ma Chien and Polybius are two historians who have made great contributions and have great influence on the historiographical history in China and the West. Their works may by hailed as the greatest achievements in the classical historiography of China and Greece during the second century B. C. In my dissertation, I study their concents of history by comparing the historiographies of China and the West.
