RESULTS: A total of 45 eyes from 45 patients were treated with the Ahmed glaucoma valve implant and its combination surgery. At a mean follow up of 9.7 months (range3～18months), the mean intraocular pressure was reduced from 36.8±12.3mmHg before the implant surgery to 18.0±4.5mmHg at the last follow up after surgery. The success rate was 87%.The best postoperative corrected visual acuity improved 16 eyes(35%).Transient postoperative hypotony and shallow anterior chamber occurred in 20% of cases. The common postoperative complication in later was the formation of encapsulated bleb(13%).

Except 58 cases missed and 5 cases induced abortion, we followed up 163 cases(241 kidneys) in different gestational age and postnatal period. Among them, 209 kidneys (86.72%) were discovered pyelectasis between 5mm to l0mm. The pyelectasis of 30 kidneys(12.45%) was between l0mm to l5mm, and that of 2 kidneys(0.83%) was thicker than 15mm. Follow-up result is as follow: 137 cases(214 kidneys) were recovered in normal in fetus period or postnatal 15 months. Their pyelectasis was thinner than 5mm(88.80%). Among them, 16 cases(2l kidneys) were recovered in fetus period(8.71%). 121 cases(193 kidneys) were recovered in postnatal 15 months(80.09%). The rest 20 kidneys' pyelectasis was between 5mm to l0mm(8.30%). 4 kidneys' pyelectatis was between 10mm to l5mm(1.66%), and 3 kidneys' pyelectasis was thicker than l5mm(1.24%).

Follow-up ranged 3-18 months, JOA score increased obviously after the operation. In the period of follow-up, there was no screw loosening or displacement. Postoperative CT was performed on all cases, in which, there was no laminae subsidence or reclose of the opened laininae.

随访3~18个月，术后JOA评分均有明显改善，术后行CT检查未见钛板及钛钉脱落移位、椎板塌陷或再关门现象，门轴侧骨折处骨质再生融合。

Thirty-seven of 38 patients with follow-up are alive without disease and 1 is alive with disease (median 59 mo follow-up duration, range: 8 to 108 mo). Six cases showed myxoid liposarcoma with spindled growth (spindle cell myxoid liposarcoma); these arose in 5 females and 1 male (median age 14 y) and involved the thigh in 40% of cases.

At an average follow-up of 34.3 months, using the Sports Ankle Rating System, the average clinical rating score was 96.2, the average quality-of-life measure was 96.7, and the average single assessment numeric evaluation was 95.3. Radiographs at final follow-up showed no mortise widening or lateral talar subluxation. Two patients had mild degenerative changes on lateral radiographs with anterior tibial osteophytes.
