Methods: Between 1984 and 1996, there were 44 cases of head and neck cancer that underwent radical surgery and had the pharyngealdefect reconstructed with a muscular flap. Methods The Wistar rats were used as the experimental animal. On the back of each rat, a skin flap, measuring 1.5 cm×6 cm, caudally based, was elevated.
