A finite element analysis on the new method is presented in this paper. Based on the finite element analysis, tension tests of 18 steel bars in different diameters and holes are carried out. The results of tests, which are according with that of finite element analysis, validate the new method to determine real stresses of steel bars by drilling/enlarging small holes.
