In order to study the intake air flow characteristics in four-valve diesel engines, in this dissertation hot-wire anemometer and PIV twodimension instantaneous measuring technique are used. Extensive experimental study on two intake valve exit flow fields and longitudinal section flow field in cylinder are performed for different type of diesel engines. Great researching progress have been made on the interaction between two intake ports, and the formation process of in-cylinder swirl and flow field structure of cross and longitudinal section for four valve diesel engines. These results are presented in China for the first time and without such kind of research work reported abroad as detailed and deepgoing as this dissertation. The author designs and makes a set of hot wire measuring velocity device to measure the velocity distribution around the intake valve annulus and the cross section flow field in cylinder.

It is the first time to calculate the near noise field with ray method, and replace the inhomogenous SSP in the vertical direction with constant SSP, while other models usually use Fast Field Program such as SARFRI to calculate the near noise field. This model increases the calculation speed about 100 times without decreasing much precision. It can meet the need of engineering.

In order to reduce the effect of probe errors in near-field antenna measurement, the solutions are proposed as follows: On the one hand, theoretical formula of probe-compensated is derived; on the other hand, drop-shaped probe is designed and near-zone gain, far-field patterns, axial ratio, main lobe width, input impedance, voltage standing-wave ratio, electromagnetic field and current distribution of probe are obtained through the computer simulation.

The author has made a detailed analysis of the satellite gravity data over Wenchuan, Motuo, Zhongba, Jiashi and Taiwan Areas in China, where earthquakes more than magnitude of 6 took place in recent several decades. It is surprising that the gravity field patterns over these areas are extremely similar, which is characterized by the following features:(1)Paired positive and negative anomaly.(2)Epicenters usually were located between the pairs where the gradient of gravity field was the steepest.(3)The value of positive peak increased and its width decreased at higher order field.(4)The distance between positive and negative peaks varies in different tectonic background.(5)Different styles of crustmantle material diapirism in different stress fields. Geologically, rheological diapirism of high density crustmantle material could be a reasonable explanation to this unique pattern.
