The complete model of locomotive and vehicle and the exact motion equations of wheel-set are established, in which, three-dimension wheel/rail contact geometry is taken into account and the Kalker's creep theory is employed to analyze the effects of the contact region of wheel/rail. An iterative procedure of solving wheel/rail creep force is proposed to improve the existed calculating method. Finally, the motion equations of vehicle with 23 DOFs are derived using the D'Alembert principle.

Under the condition of considering the displacement, bouncing, yaw, roll of wheelsets and displacement, bouncing, roll of rails, minimum gap between rail and wheel were calculated by the trochoid method and divided rail outline method, we can easily judge totally real contact states of the wheel/rail such as normal one-point contact, nonnormal one-point contact, two-point contact and wheel complete lift. Wheel/rail normal forces in the two contact point are respectively calculated by nonlinear Hertz contact theory, and then, result of simulation more close to reality on actual track.

The computation model of two-point contact (for cone-tread) and conformal contact (for worn-tread) resulting from wheel flange close to rail is firstly established in this paper. A detailed analysis is made of the wheel/rail contact force, contact status and wheel/rail stress distribution on the different action of tractive forces and transverse forces. We draw some important conclusions, one of which is that the locomotive adhesion performance will decrease with the increase of transverse forces between wheel and rail.
