Based on code for design of steel structures GB50017-2003 and using the three column subassemblage model,a governing equation for determining the effective length factor of columns for non-sway semi-rigid composite frames was derived considering the effects of the nonlinear moment rotation characteristics of beam-to-column connections and composite action of slab.
