The changes of appearance in buccal cancer patient due to disease itself or after remedy always has big impact on patients' body image. This study explored the adaptation process of body image for appearance changes in buccal cancer patients after surgery and examined the relationship among adaptation, social support, and body image. The purposes of this study were to: 1.explore the distribution of essential attribute, healthy behavior, disease condition, body image, body image adaptation, and social support in buccal cancer patients after operation; and 2. examine if the adaptation of body image and social support will affect patients' body image. The study usee a cross-sectional design and recruit post-operative buccal cancer patients from a regional teaching hospital at southern Taiwan.

口腔癌患者因疾病及治疗带来的外观改变，对患者心理上於身体心像的调适会形成极大的冲击，且发病年龄多集中在中壮年期的男性，本研究即探讨男性口腔癌个案术后身体心像因应及社会支持之相关性，研究目的主要针对：一、了解男性口腔癌术后不同时期患者其基本属性、健康行为、疾病情况的分布情形以及身体心像状况、身体心像因应和社会支持的情形；二、了解身体心像的影响因子为何，采用横断式研究法，以立意取样，於南部某区域教学医院的耳鼻喉科门诊，选取罹患口腔癌且经手术治疗过后的男性患者，并排除合并其他非口腔癌重大伤病者及合并其他慢性疾病造成外观改变者。

Sims and Saleh performed pin site care daily beginning 48 hours after the operation. In their study, they applied Orthox monolateral xators (Orthox Srl, Bussolengo–Verona, Italy)(58.4%), circular xators (19.7%), and the Shefeld Hybrid System (21.9%). Massage was used to release skin adhered to the pin. A cotton swab with normal saline or cooled boiled water was used to clean the pin site. Another cotton swab was then used to dry the pin site. Dressings were only applied if there was any exudate. Bathing with the leg submerged in water was discouraged. They found that 29% of the xators had noinfection (grade 0) according to the grading system of Saleh and Scott (Table 5). The remaining 71% of xators had an infection of one or more different grades. There were no grade 6 infections. They concluded that xators located on the femurhad the highest infection rate and that incidence of infection was 2.5 times greater for femoral xators in which corrections were performed (62.3%) than in those without corrections (24.5%). These observations, however, were based on half-pin care. We did not use half-pins or Schanz screws in any of our treatment groups.

The results showed that cotton swab and foam swab were the main oral care cleaning equipment used for oral intubated patients according to observations of ICU nurses performing oral care and self-reported questionnaires of ICU nurses. The cleaning solution was mainly dilute mouthwash. The mean correct rate was 72.4% in procedures of oral care. Due to the different characteristics of ICUs, the ICU nurses chose different cleaning equipment, cleaning solutions, methods of using cleaning solution, and oral endotracheal tube securement methods. Older age of the ICU nurses, was associated with more complete oral care. The completeness of performing oral care by the ICU nurses in medical ICU was significantly higher than that by nurses in surgical ICU.
