Results of experiments under different conditions show that, compared with arc electrical signal and arc light signal, arc spectrum signal is of more advantageous property. It can not only detect short-circuit metal transfer, but also more effectively detect droplet in free transfer mode than electrical signal. It can not only detect the droplet transfer in the CO〓 welding, but also can detect spray transfer in Ar welding with advantage over arc light signal. Especially, its outstanding capability of detecting steam spray transfer where other approaches fail, shows that are spectrum information has the utmost signal quality in metal droplet transfer detecting.
