We use this technology to measure some rock and oil sample taken from Liaohe or Tarim basin. We identified many series of biomarker with dividing-era significance. These series are C26 steranes, C30 methylsteranes; and methly hopanoid alkanes, hexacyclic hopanoid alkanes, which two series were measured first by our laboratory in China.

By means of GC-MS-Ms method, the multiple series of age-related and taxon specific biomarkers are tested in source rocks and oil samples from Liaohe oilfield and Tarim basin, which are hard to be detected by conventional GC-MS method. The mineralogy, petrology, rare earth and trace element geochemistry, Re-Os and Sr-Nd isotopic geochemistry of the black shales and cherts of Yuretusi Formation at the bottom of the Cambrian in Xiaoerbulake and Shugeitebulake sections from northern Tarim Basin have been systematically studied. It was discovered that the high enrichment of some deep source metal elements in the black shales deals with the activity of hydrothermal fluid from the lower crust or upper mantal.
