A 50-year Porites lutea core from Nansha Islands (9°33′N, 112°54′E) was analyzed for δ〓O and δ〓C for two aims. First, we hope to find and set up some formula between δ〓O and environmental parameters, such as thermometer readings, so that we can reconstruct historical environment of this area. Second, we hope to understand the climate changing process during the past fifty years of this area and its relation to the global change.

Results: The cultured chondrocytes were polygonal cells. There were many rough endoplasmic reticula and mitochondria in cytoplasm, and a lot of secretory vesicles under cell membrane and in the cytoplasm. When cultured for 10 days, some small and white nodules were formed on the bottom of the culture dished, and volcanic-mouth-like structures were formed when cultured for 20 days. Both these nodules and structures contained GAG-positive substances were demonstrated by safranine-O staining.

The cause of hard agglomerate formation and its effect on sinterability were investigated. The water-washed ZrO���-Y〓O��� powders were found to be greatly made up of hard agglomerates. The ethanolwashed powders also contained a few of hard agglomerates because of uneffective dehydration. Beside, ethanol volatilizes in advance of water during drying because ethanol has a lower boiling point than water, so steric effects of ethanol won't act. However, nearly no hard agglomerate formed in the azeotropic distilled powders, because of effective dehydration and higher boiling point for n-butanol.
