The removal rate of PVA and COD was more than 98% and 40% under the conditions that the concentration of PVA was 3.0 g/L and the pH value was 7.2, the dosage of potassium ferrate and sodium hypo chlorite were 0.32 g/L and 3.92 g/L, and the reaction time was 50 min. In the process of united oxidative degradation, the chain of PVA was cut off and many low molecular weight compounds were formed. The main degradation products were carboxyl compounds.
