A total of ten legume species were used as materials including Vigna angularis (8 varieties), Vigna radiate (2 varieties), Vigna unguiculata (2 varieties), Phaseolus vulgaris (2 varieties), Arachis hypogaea (2 varieties), Glycine max (2 varieties), Vicia faba (2 varieties), Canavalia gladiata (1 variety), Canavalia ensiformis (1 variety) and Cajanus cajan (1 variety).

试验材料包括红豆(8个品种)、绿豆(2个品种)、豇豆(2个品种)、菜豆(2个品种)、落花生(2个品种)、毛豆(2个品种)、蚕豆(2个品种)、红凤豆(1个品种)、白凤豆(1个品种)及树豆(1个品种)，共计10个物种。

MATERIALS AND METHODS: The root tips of Vicia faba were treated with different concentrations of sodium sulfite and sodium nitrite (in the concentrations of 25;50;100;200;400 mg/L) with distilled water as control for four hours.The root tips of Vicia faba were stained with carbol fuchsin and examined. The micronucleus rate and the rate of chromosome aberration were determined within root tip cells of Vicia faba.

材料与方法：用不同浓度的亚硫酸钠和亚硝酸钠(25、50、100、 200、400 mg/L)分别处理蚕豆根尖4 h，并以蒸馏水作为对照，用石炭酸品红染液染色，分别观察、测定蚕豆根尖细胞的微核率和染色体畸变率。

Our work reported here are aiming at improving nitrogen and water use efficiency in wheat/maize, faba bean/maize, pea/maize and soybean/maize intercropping through field experiment.The main results obtained were as the following:(1) Land equivalent ratio was greater than 1.0 for faba bean (Viciafaba L.)/maize (Zea mays L.) intercropping regardless of nitrogen fertilizer application or not.
