Another year has come and past 又是一年已经到了，过去的

Like moments through an hourglass 想通过沙漏的时刻

And at the end of this year's trail 而在今年的羊肠小径尽头

An offering, a final tale 祭最后的故事

   

Of love, long lost 爱情，早已失去

And then refound 然后refound

And the child by which 和子由

Those dreams were bound 那些梦想被束缚

   

Of a dusty hotel 一个尘土飞扬的酒店

That was long past old 那是很久以前的老

And the shadows and the memories 而阴影和回忆

Its hallways still hold 它的走廊仍持有

   

For things that are old 对于东西是旧的

Have the best tales to tell 要告诉最好的故事

And usually, 通常，

They tell them well 他们告诉他们好

   

And so it's here, my dear children 所以它在这里，我亲爱的孩子

That our story truly starts 我们的故事真正开始

When the lord sent once more to the earth 当耶和华差遣再次向地球

An angel, with a childlike heart 一个天使，带着稚气心脏

   

And on this night his mission was 而在这个夜晚他的任务是

To find somewhere on this earth 为了找到这个地球上的某个地方

That human that best reflected his son 人类是最能体现他的儿子

And carried on his work 而对他的工作进行

The angel quickly unfolded his wings 天使迅速展开他的翅膀

And towards the earth took flight 并朝地球飞行了

   

And this night, in case you have not guessed 而这个夜晚，如果你还没有猜到

Was once more christmas eve 一度更平安夜

When snow and light and angels' flights 当雪和光天使的航班

All together weave 一起编织

   

But of the angel's instructions 但天使的说明

There was one thing more 有一件事

That would make this journey to the earth 这将使这个旅程到地球

Harder than all the ones before 难度比所有的人之前，

   

For the lord had also told the angel 因为耶和华还告诉天使

That he could only use his wings twice this christmas eve 他只能用自己的翅膀这两次平安夜

Once when he descended to the earth 一旦当他降临到人间

And once more when he would leave 一旦更多的时候，他会离开

(not unlike ourselves some think, （不同于自己有些人认为，

Or at least so i believe) 或者，至少我是这样认为）

   

Now this put quite a complication 现在，这把相当复杂

In what the angel planned 什么天使计划

For now he had to choose most carefully 现在他不得不最谨慎选择

Exactly where he would land 正是他将登陆

   

He needed to find a single place 他需要找一个地方

That would represent all mankind 这将是全人类

But humans were such a varied lot 但是，人类是如此多样的很多

Such a place would surely be hard to find 这样的地方肯定是很难找到

   

A single place where there would be 一个单一的地方，会有

Humans of every race and creed 不同种族和信仰的人

The rich and poor, the thrilled and bored 富人与穷人，兴奋，无聊

The failures with those who succeed 与谁成功失败

   

But after a few moments 但过了一会儿

Carefully placed in thought 小心放置在思想

The answer appeared in the angel's mind 答案出现在天使的心灵

The city called new york 这个城市被称为纽约

   

And as he neared that city 当他越来越靠近这个城市

Where all those souls did dwell 在那里所有的灵魂都住

He felt himself being drawn towards 他觉得自己被吸向

An old, rundown hotel 一个古老的，破旧的酒店

   

For in a city that usually had 对于一个城市，通常有

Guards at nearly every single door 守卫几乎每一个单门

This one just had a sign that said "vacancies, 这其中只是有一个牌子，上面写着“空缺，

There is always room for one more" 总是有余地多了一个“

   

Now why the angel decided to stop there 现在为什么天使决定就此打住

He could not quite say the reason 他也说不太明白的原因

But he thought the sign upon that hotel 但他在那家酒店想符号

Somehow fit the sentiment of this season 不知怎的，适合这个季节的感悟

   

Now even after all these years 现在，即使经过这么多年

The building was still a work of art 该建筑还是艺术作品

And though some facade had crumbled here and there 虽然一些门面已经在这里和那里崩溃

Most still had their parts 多数人仍然有他们的份

   

The walls were made of granite 花岗岩墙壁上做

Not aluminum or steel 不是铝或钢

And every pillar and ballistrade 和每一个支柱， ballistrade

Still had its artist's feel 仍然有它的艺术家的感觉

   

Every gutter had a gargoyle 每个排水沟有怪兽

Every gargoyle had its wings 每个石像鬼了它的翅膀

For angels can appreciate 对于天使可以欣赏

Other flying things 其他飞行的东西

   

So he landed on a cathedral roof 于是，他想到了一个教堂的屋顶

Across the street from that hotel 对面那家酒店的街

And looked down upon the world below 而且低于世界白眼

Where all those souls did dwell 在那里所有的灵魂都住

   

And sitting on that rooftop 并坐在了屋顶

With his friend the winter wind 与他的朋友在冬天的风

He gazed carefully at that scene below 他下面的那一幕仔细凝视

As he slowly took it in 当他慢慢把它

On a street in the night 在夜间的街道

In the cold winter's light 在寒冷的冬季的光

Through this night 通过这个夜晚

The dream still wanders 梦想依然徘徊
