Now all that had occurred here this night 现在，所有曾在这里发生的这一夜是

The angel had clearly seen 天使已经看得很清楚

Not unlike an old fashioned movie 不是不像一个老式的电影

Upon a silvered screen 当镀银屏幕

That borders on the edge of a 这接壤的边缘

Forgotten childhood dream 被遗忘的童年梦想

   

And from all that he had witnessed 并从所有他曾亲眼目睹

He thought his answer he had found 他认为他的答案，他发现

And once more unfolded his wings 再一次展现了他的翅膀

And left earth's solid ground 离开地球的坚实基础

   

With every sweep of those wings 这些翅膀每次扫描

Across time and space he soared 跨越时间和空间，他飙

Until he found himself standing 直到他发现自己站在

Back in heaven, before his lord 早在天上，他的前主人

   

And he told his lord the name of the father's son 他告诉他的主人的父亲的儿子的名字

But then he hesitated 但后来他犹豫了一下

Like a child in school unsure of his answer 就像一个孩子在学校不能确定自己的答案

But the lord, he patiently waited 但主，他耐心地等待着

   

Then the angel added the names 然后加入天使的名字

Of the parishioners at the church 该教区的教堂

The musicians, the storyteller 音乐家，说书

The operator and the hospital nurse 运营商和医院的护士

   

Eventually there was hardly a person 最终，几乎没有一个人

That the angel had missed 那天使错过

And then at the very end he placed 然后在最后，他把

That anyone could reflect his lord's son 任何人都可以反映出主人的儿子

Was now the angel's view 现在是天使的看法

Then the lord smiled at his angel 耶和华微笑着看着他的天使

And said, "you have done more than your task 并说， “你做超过你的任务

It's a gift that eyes rarely have 这是一个礼物，眼睛很少有

And so this night is ending 所以这个夜晚即将结束

So christmas eve had come and past 所以，平安夜已经到来和过去的

A taxicab pulled up to the grand hotel, 一辆出租车拉到大酒店，

But had met their child the night before 但在此之前见过他们的孩子夜间

   

The clerk answered most politely 店员回答最有礼貌

That he would like to fulfill his wish 他想完成他的心愿

But the room number twelve twenty-four 但房间数一二二四年

In this hotel, did not exist 在这家酒店，是不存在的

   

The father then described the little girl 父亲接着描述的小女孩

Her age and dress as well 她的年龄和衣着，以及

But the clerk said there had been no children there at all that week 但店员表示，所有这一周一直没有孩子有

Was he sure he had the right hotel? 难道他确信他有合适的酒店？

Standing with her parents, in front of their store 站在她的父母，在他们的店门口

   

The little girl he saw there 他看到的小女孩

He now knew was a childhood picture of his wife 他现在所知道的是他的妻子的童年照片

But it was also a picture of the little girl 但也有人的小女孩的照片

He had just met on the previous night 他刚刚会见了前一天晚上

   

And he realized that those who love 他意识到，那些谁爱

Death cannot divide 死亡无法分割

It only provides an extra soul 它只是提供了一个额外的灵魂

To watch over us from the other side 观看着我们从另一面

   

And together they returned 和他们一起返回
