One day near Christmas when I was just a child 有一天，临近圣诞节的时候我还只是个孩子

Mama called us together and mama tried to smile 妈妈叫我们一起和妈妈试着微笑

She said you know the cotton crop hadn't been too good this year 她说，你知道棉花还没有太好今年

A poor old ragged lady eased open the door 一个可怜的老人衣衫褴褛的老太太缓解开门

She picked up the coal oil and hickernuts and said 她拿起煤制油和hickernuts说

"I sure do thank you" and quickly closed the door “我肯定不感谢你”，迅速关上了门

   

We started back home me and Jack 我们开始回到家里我和杰克

And about halfway we stopped looked back 而大约一半，我们停下回头

And in the sharecropper's window at last was a light 而在佃农的窗口，最后是轻

So for one of the neighbors and for us it was a good Christmas night 所以对于邻国之一，对我们来说是一个很好的圣诞之夜
