In the detection experiments, the scan rate is set at 0.3 V/s under the analysis of linear sweep voltammetry. On the cyclic voltammetry plot, each pair of clear redox peaks was observed for 4-chlorophenol (4-CP), 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP), and penta- chlorophenol. The potentials of the redox pairs were 1.218 and -0.460 V for 4-CP, 1.128 and -0.448 V for 2,4-DCP, and 1.037 and -0.473 V for PCP.

The separation of tocopherols and tocotrienols by using the method of adsorption chromatography on silica and on silica impregnated with silver nitrate have been discussed. Satisfactory separation could be obtained with argentation column chromatography by eluting batchwise with n-hexane containing increasing amounts of diethyl ether. More than 90% of vitamin E amount in eluate was tocotrienols.

To our knowledge, reverse phase of high performance liquid chromatography was firstly developed to analyze the metabolites of 7-tocopherol with ideal results. Meanwhile, Gas chromatography/Mass chromatography were used to analyze the structures of unknown metabolites of 7-tocopherol and a main unknown metabolite was identified as a side chain ω- hydroxylate of 7-tocopherol.The kinetic results of of 7-tocopherol reacted in the S9 of male SD-rat liver showed that the optimal time was 45 min; the optimal concentration of S9 5 mg/ml; the optimal concentration of NADPH 1 mM; and the optimal concentration of 7-tocopherol 8 μg/ml. The result of γ-tocopherol metabolized in the S9 of male SD-rat was the best; male Brazil turtle better; and male cobia worst.

The morphology of virions seems to not be change after incubated with the paeonol by electron microscope. The regained infectivity of TMV recovered by dialysis from incubation with paeonol in vitro showed that the paeonol have not direct viricidal effect. The paeonol did not reduce infectivity when applied before TMV inoculation. The paeonol in low concentration can restrain the polymerization of TMV coat protein in vitro. The paeonol did not reduced infectivity of TMV-RNA in vitro. It is proposed that the paeonol inhibited TMV by binding with TMV coat protein to interfere with recognition of a host receptor essential for infection or by interfering TMV-CP polymerization in plants. The anti-TMV activity of low molecular weight chemicals extracted from Polygonum cuspidatum were determined.
