According to the principle of strontium isotope stratigraphy, we attempt to determine the age of the boundaries for Campanian/Santonian and Maastrichtian/Campanian by 87Sr/86Sr ratios for Gamba section in southern Tibet.

He acted as an advisor for the Cenozoic Laboratory,Geological Survey of China,the first institution established for studying paleoanthropology in China since its establishment. He was one of the two chief authors of Fossil Man in China ,the first paleoanthropological book printed in China. He not only has great achievements in the study of Cenozoic stratigraphy,Paleolithic archaeology and mammalian fossils of China but also made important contributions in planning the excavation at Zhoukoudian. He worked in China for nearly 20 years,which makes him unparalleled among foreign paleoanthropologists.

The monocycle paleoclimate evolution in Cenozoic Era and multi-tectonic movement made the lake-basin evolution, hydrocarbon source-rock, reservoir development, accumulation condition and petroleum distribution are more exceptive in character and complex in feature.

Combining the available regional geological and geophysical research, the petrogenesis of the magmatism was studied. As a response and absorption to the IndiaAsia collision, the northeastward flow of the asthenosphere beneath the Tibetan Plateau along the 400 km depth interface was blocked by the North China craton, and caused a systemic sequences in West Qinling Region, including the strikeslip fault systems and pullapart basins in the shallow crust and the origin of the twotype magmatism in this work in deep lithosphere. This explanation is consistent with the lithology and plumelike geochemical features of the kamafugite and potassic trachybasalt, which are significantly different from the potassic magmatism within the plateau and its adjacent regions.
