To probe into either the attractiveness to or avoidance from phylloxera of grape rootstocks and cultivars with different tolerance, as well as into the volatile components from their roots, the method of invitro root segment culture was used to investigate the selectivity of Phylloxera viticola Fitch to the roots of grape rootstocks '5BB' and '140Ru' and cultivar 'Kyoho'.
