Mr. Zheng was born in Shanghai at January 1923.He studied in Shanghai National Conservatory since 1943, majored in cello playing. In 1946, he joined Shanghai Symphony Orchestra as bassist, and was later acting as part leader till his retirement in 1991. He was appointed as parttime bass professor by Shanghai Conservatives during 1956 to 1985. In 1984, he was admitted as the first Chinese member of the International Society of Bassists.
